Providing technical and profitable solutions to waste problems
Developing processes to generate fuel from plastic waste
· Total U.S. consumption of liquid fuels increased to 19.1 million barrels per day in 2010, of which approx. 9.1 million barrels (47%)
was gasoline and 3.8 million barrels (20%) were diesel fuel and heating oil (U.S. Energy Information Administration).
· Plastics with codes 2, 4, 5, and 6 accounted for 37 billion pounds, which Global Energy Conversions (GEC) estimates could be converted
into over 10 million gallons of fuel per day. Assuming conservative estimates of price per gallon of $2.50 and 300 days per year,
the implied market size is approx. $9.2 billion.
